Christmas Festivities

Christmas this year seemed better than any before. I could write about 10 pages about it, but I will try to really condense.

1.Ryan, Emily, and the girls came down from California for the holiday. Of course Kalle was ecstatic because she thinks Peyton comes just to visit her. The kids have ahd fun playing outside on the powerwheels grandpa recently got.

Yes, this next picture is of Jaxon (age 1) driving Oakley (age 1) in the passenger seat, with Peyton (age 6) in the back!

2. The Palmer family Christmas party was especially special this year because Kalle was finally old enough to be part of the nativity story. Uncle Jared was so wonderful to help her (even though some of the other boys his age thought they were "too cool" to go on stage, Uncle Jared rose to the occasion and helped Kalle have a blast- what a guy!), and they were wise men. It was so cute- I was close to tears the entire time.

3. Christmas eve was super as usual with the Ferrell clan. We started off with the traditional Christmas eve dinner of homemade soups and salads and mom's cheesecake for dessert...yum! Then as everything was cleaned up the kids played. Kalle just melted my heart as she snuggled right up to her oldest cousin Taylor.

We then moved on to the singing of the carols with instruments and numerous parades around the house. Unfortunately,we only took video of this part and I haven't learned how to upload that yet.

Next came the ever popular "game." This is only for the adults. Although it has changed immensely through the years, it is still as fun as ever- especially when the cards seem to fall in your favor. This is what happened. Mom and Dad Ferrell supply most of the gifts while the rest of us bring two or three per couple. Most of the gifts are gift certificates, though there were some other pretty awesome things. All of the gifts sit in the middle of the circle wrapped- you don't know what's inside. Everyone chooses numbers and sits in that order. Somehow, I ended up with number 1 with Brandt and Scott sitting at my sides (this should have been my first clue that this was going to be good). So we go around the circle, taking turns picking the wrapped gifts until they are gone. We then open them and go around the circe to see what everyone got. Here is where the fun begins. Number 1 (me) then gets to trade any one of my gifts with any one of anyone else's gifts. I believe my first trade was one of my gift certificates for 2 BYU shirts- one for Oakley and one for Brandt. Then number 2 does the same thing. We go around this way until everyone has had three trades. The interesting thing is that every item has a three steal limit- so you have to play a little strategy if there is something you really want. Well, what I really wanted was one of the nativity scenes. I talked Scott (sitting to my left) into stealing it from Mom first, then I stole it from him ( steal 2), then Brandt (sitting to my right) stole it from me (steal three and out of play). Well, in the end, all Scott wanted was the two airline tickets, so we got those for him, and he gave us all of his other gifts. When all was said and done we ended up with some exciting stuff- gift certificates to Chilis, Applebees, Macaroni Grill, Flos, Paradise Bakery, and Crackers- 2 BYU shirts- 4 awesome christmas CDs- deluxe scrabble, and my nativity set.

The night ended with Mom's light of Christ activity (where most ended up crying) and Dad reading in Luke 2. This was my favorite part of the whole night.

4. Christmas day was also crazy fun. We woke up and opened gifts here at our house before 6:30 am. Brandt spoiled me with some fun gifts including my new calendar (a tradition), a new orange juicer, and my favorite smoothie mix. Then we got WAY spoiled at Grandma Palmer and Grandpa James's house where the kids were in heaven. We opened gifts, had an excellent homemade breakfast, and got to relax while the kids played with their new things. Once again, we only video taped it... no still pictures. :(

Christmas was perfect because we got to spend it with all the people who mean the most to us. Then all of the fun came to an end when we got called the next morning to give a talk in church THIS sunday... yikes!

Being honest DOES pay off!

Today I got a pair of $40 maternity jeans for FREE! How? you might ask... Some might say it was paying my tithing- others might say the employee didn't want to take the effort to get them back- I think it was because I was honest! Today I decided I needed some new maternity clothes. It was not a want anymore. I have one pair of pants that I have worn through the previous two pregnancies and are now getting holes in them. I have two church outfits, but one will not fit until I am past seven months along. I have plenty of shirts, but they are getting worn out. Plus who wants to wear the same shirt in six different colors because you got them on sale for $3 each... NOT me anymore. You know that it is really necessary when Brandt agrees that I might need a few new things (we'll just say hes frugal). So today was the day to get some clothes. I headed to the mall. I hit mervyns first because we have a few gift cards there we have been saving for an emergency just like this. Of course they have no maternity section. I tried sears to find out the same thing. What??? Where do pregnant people shop these days? I got a tip to try JC Pennies just to find they have about 2 racks of nothing I would ever wear. Well, I didn't not want to go home defeated... plus it is not everyday you have a babysitter for 3 hours. So I walked over to Motherhood Maternity knowing it would be the most expensive place I have shopped in a long time. Of course I get in there to find A LOT of really cute stuff. I try on about 100 things knowing I could only buy a few (that were on clearance). I finally decide on 2 shirts, 2 dresses (I know I splurged, but one was practically free). The only thing is I can't decide on the jeans. I like both pairs. Neither are on sale (of course), because I can only wear maternity pants without a belly panel (they make me sick). The ones without the panels always sell out quick and never go on sale. So, as I go up to the register, I decide to get both the $30 pair and the $40 pair. As she is ringing me up I come to my senses and realize what I am about to do. Does my family want to eat for the next month or not? So I tell the girl that I have decided against the $40 pair. She takes it off my bill. To make a long story short, I am driving home and notice that both pairs of jeans are in my bag. This must be a sad joke. I take a look at the reciept, and she had not charges me for them. I get home and call the store back. "What do you want me to do with them?" I ask. I don't know when I will be back to the mall. I could mail them to you (if you send me the money first!) The girl didn't know what to do. She asked the boss. I hear the boss in the background saying, "If I got home with some pants they had given me by mistake, I would keep them. Tell her to keep them for being honest." So even though I probably only got to keep them because they didn't want to go through the effort to send me money to ship them back, I get to keep a FREE pair of jeans. YAY!

Sleepover with Uncles... what could be more fun?

Last weekend, Jordan and Jared sleptover at our house while Grandma Palmer and Grandpa James went out of town. Kalle was so excited the whole time she could hardly calm down. They were great with Kalle and Oakley, and I had a lot of fun, too. I am not sure that Brandt even knew they were here since he had to study, study, study! :)
And yes, just call us white trash- that IS a hole in Oakley's pajamas. The boy just grows too fast to keep buying him new pairs... maybe someday!

We took pictures!

Yesterday, we decided to go see santa at the mall. We got pictures (where both my kids were actually smiling) and then went and took pics at sears. It was not the best of photo shoots... but hey- we are smile saver members, so it was FREE!

Scar-Face... right around the corner

It seems like multiple times a day, Oakley falls and hits his head on something. This was one of the more dramatic of his facial injuries. I was trying to pack, and he pulled a lamp right on his face. We had to go get cut glue administered. Yesterday we had pictures taken at the mall, and, not 2 minutes after Oakley's pictures were over, he fell and now has a huge rug burn on his forhead... I guess boys will be boys.

Thanksgiving at Great Gram&Gramp Clifford's

Thanksgiving presented a wonderful break from packing and studying for us this year. It was so fun to hang out with Brandt's Mom's side of the family. Kalle decided that Great Grandpa Clifford was going to be her favorite person and spent a good amount of the time on his lap talking to him... boy was he surprised!!!

Unpacking: A big job, but somebody's gotta do it!

Yes, unpacking has become my life. I have not enjoyed it as much as I thought I would, mostly because it is next to impossible with Kalle and Oakley around. So I try to do it while they are awake (not much gets done) and then do a lot while they sleep. While they sleep I am pretty exhausted myself though, so I am not as efficiant as I could be. I would say I am over half done though which feels very good. We still do not have our computer set up, so I have not been able to upload the MANY MANY pictures I have accumulating on my camera. On a side note, I nevre knew how dependant I am on the internet until now. Probably 20-30 times a day I will say to myself, I really need to do this (map quest something, get a business's phone number, BLOG something, look something up about pregnancy- the list could go on and on) and I realize I can't because I have no computer. How did we ever live without it? How did anyone get information on any subject they were wondering about that day? I am spoiled and feel very blessed to have so much information at my finger tips (literally). Anyway, once we get the comp set up I will post about the going ons of the past few weeks so you can have visuals with them. Now to continue the things I am grateful for:

Something I am thankful for #3- The Gospel
Sometimes I think that, even though I have my share of challenges, I really do have it DANG good. I was born on the earth in a free country. I have a family who loves me. I have never known hunger, thirst, disease or a real want for life's needs. I have a good eduaction. Not only all of these wonderful things, but I have the best thing in the entire world. I have the gospel. I try and say thank you for this daily. I am so blessed. I am not going to go into details of why I am thankful for it, because everyone who reads this blog (I think) knows what I mean... If you don't ask me because I would love to tell you!

Anyway, I have got to go back home. Just wanted to watch survivor ( we dont have any rabbit ears for our TV yet). And wasn't it GOOD!

It is over... We have moved... kind of

Well, I am thrilled to say that all of our stuff has been moved out of our apartment and into our new HOUSE!!! You don't know how good it feels to say that. I am sick of having no room for the kids to play inside, no backyard for them to play in, no room for ANYTHING, no windowes in the kitchen, boxes piled up in every corner, closet, cupboard, and storage area because you have no more room to unpack everything... and it is OVER! Even though we got everything moved on friday (thank you, thank you to all who showed up to move us), we aren't going to actually sleep there for the first time tonight because we won't have the water turned on until sometime today. SO even though our house is pretty much un-livable because of box after box piled on top of eachother... it is pretty exciting. After moving all of our stuff, the common reaction was "how on earth did all of this fit into your TINY apartment... which I really don't know the answer to. All I know is that EVERYTHING is now going to have a place it belongs, I have natural light shining into every room, and my kids will not get childhood obesity now because they actualy have space and room to move and play. Now comes the exciting part... unpacking. I hate to pack (ask Brandt... he actually did most of it), but am excited to unpack everything. It will be like an early Christmas because most of this stuff I have not seen for about a year (see the part about not enough room to unpack everything). Hopefully it will not take me longer than a week or two... we will see.

So to make a long story short... I have a lot to be thankful for this holiday season. I have decided to name a few:
1. A wonderful husband who loves me enough to move in the middle of his first semester of law school (and a week before finals for that matter). He is AMAZING. I have never met someone so honest, dedicated to the gospel, or a better example. He is good looking, smart (smarter than me... I know that is not saying much), and one of the hardest workersI know. He is anti-drama... meaning he doesnt get jealous, like to fight, or play silly mind games. I just absolutely LOVE this guy.
2. My children. Boy are kids more hard work than I would have ever guessed. But or so worth it. They are pretty much my life right now... and I couldn't be more lucky. Kalle is way too smart for her age and is always making me laugh. She loves the new baby in my tummy and is always talking/singing to it, giving it hugs and kisses, and telling everyone she meets "my momma has a baby in her tummy!" Although it is sometimes hard that she always wants to be with me, it is also very sweet and touches my heart. Oakley is my little love bug. He is so tender hearted, you even look at him wrong, and it will hurt his feelings (don't get this mixed up with wousy (sp?) because I would say he is not). He will come up and give me a hug or a kiss every so often just because. And the cutest thing about him is that he thinks his sister is the best thing in the WORLD. She walks past him and he smiles. She runs by him and it makes him laugh. He sees her and he grins from ear to ear. He wants to be anywhere that she is and doing anything she does.

Well, I plan to add to this list through the next couple days. I also have quite a fw events to blog about, but I want to wait until I have our compter up and running so I can add the pictures. So I am sorry that I have been away fromt he blog for so long, but I AM BACK!

We are moving!!!

Sorry for not posting recently, but we have been pretty busy. We are moving to north Mesa in ONE WEEK, and I have been a little stressed out getting ready for it. But I promise, once the move has taken place, we will be back to the blogging world!

Parties and Accidents

This past week has been very busy and full of fun. I was not quite done with our "real" costumes when we went to our apartment complex halloween party. So we inprovised on costumes... My sister Ashley and Cousin Jaxon came, and also My cousin Heather brought her family. The party was a little lame, but the company made the party a blast. Also I won one of the candy guessing jars and won a jar full of candy corn... yuck!! Hopefully your family is enjoying that Heather! ;)

For our ward's trunk-or-treat our family wore our "real" costumes. We were a family of Where's Waldos. It was a fun costume, but a lot of work. I should have started the majority of the costumes BEFORE saturday morning when we wanted to wear them that night. But they turned out and we had a lot of fun. (although most people knew what we were, we had some interesting guesses like candy canes and Dr. Suess characters.)

Lastly, on Monday, on lamp fell on Oakley and sliced his cheek/eye area . Luckily we have an E.R. doc in the family (thank you Brit) and we just drove to his house and he took care of it with cut glue... much better than stitches if you ask me!

All in all we have had a fun week!

Baby Katie is BORN!!!!

My sister-in-law AnnaMarie and my brother Tyler (mostly AnnaMarie though) finally had Baby Katie a week ago. Kalle has been so excited that most of our conversations these days revolve around baby Katie, having a baby in your tummy, how the baby gets out of the tummy, why the baby makes you sick in the tummy, and when she gets to see baby Katie. As you can see from the pictures, Katie is just the most beautiful baby around. I wanted to post a picture of Katie here on the blog so I said Kalle could pick her favorite (she had about 12 to choose from). After carefully looking them all over she told me her favorite was the one with "Aunt AnnaMwee." I thought it would only be fair if we showed the proud father as well.

Kalle is very sad to have one of her grandma's missing in action for a week. She is also sad that she will not get to see Baby Katie for awhile. Here is how she feels:

Ferrell Family Halloween Party

I have been looking forward to having a halloween party ever since about february. I have never had one before and was really looking forward to it. It finally arrived on Saturday and it was SO much fun. We ate with the lights off (by candle light) and had spooky music playing in the background...
A cauldren with dry ice for a spooky effect at the table. You can't really see it, but all the chairs have spider webs wrapped around them.
The beverages... Nuclear waste (Hot apple cider punch) and Putrid Punch (sherbet punch with gummy worm cubes)
Dragon teeth (roasted pumpkin seeds) and Brains and skull bones (chips and onion dip)
The tastiest (thanks Nedra) nose-blow burritos EVER!!! (burritos with shredded chicken, beans, guac, and sour cream... for the snot effect)
I forgot to take the lid off the pumpkin... but inside was edible rotting pumpkin (funeral potatos with green food coloring)
Dessert! Graveyard dirt with R.I.P. tombstones (fluffy pudding with crumbled oreos and a cookie for the tombstone... look closely and you can see the RIP!)

After dinner we all carved pumpkins!

Brandt's Fall Break

Kalle, Oakley, and I have had a great week with Brandt being home for fall break. Here are a few pictures of what has gone on in the past week...
My little water baby!

Emily and the girls came to visitfor a week. Kalle was Peyton's little shadow!

Oakley slept a lot like usual... I though this picture was so cute with his little bum in the air!

Kalle and Oakley had so much fun spending more time with dad. Kalle's new favorite saying is "Dad, will you play a game with me?" Brandt has found a new love for candy land!

Oakley discovered my attempt at balcony gardening. I came out and just had to take a picture. He really did take a huge bite!

Boy do these kids sure love Grammie and Grandpa!

Sweet Girl Kalle

Kalle blow dries her monkey's hair- not wearing a shirt because we were about to put her church clothes on!

I have NO IDEA why she would be naked in this picture!
Kalle doing elmo's hair...Yay- fully clothed!!!

Kalle finger painting. No clothes because I didn't want finger paint all over them!

Playing with Daddy! Atleast she has a shirt on!

First, thanks for all of you who took my quiz! It was fun to see your guesses. If I am not mistaken (I could be), I think it was AnnaMarie who got the most correct with six. That even beats Brandt who only got five (he says I cheated and used weird "pregnancy" answers.)

Anyway, I have been depriving my kids of the great outdoors (and somewhat cooler AZ weather...yay 95 degrees) since I have been so sick. We mostly just stay inside- if we aren't at either grandma's house. Kalle has been a little trooper coming up with some pretty funny ways to entertain herself. Here are a few pics.

P.S. I have gotten a few comments on how my kids are never dressed. They really do have clothes- Sorry!

Oakley's first popsicle

Oakley had his very first popsicle today. As you can see, he not only enjoyed eating it, but he also enjoyed rubbing all over his face and head. He is growing up so fast. Today he ate almost a whole banana all by himself (luckily, he only choked one time). Tomorrow he'll be going to college! Here is also a cute picture of Kalle. She lined up some of her "babies" for a nap and then
decided to join them-- she cracks me up!! (BTW- How come no one has taken my fun quiz???)
